● dry-farming, dry-farmings nom masculin (américain dry-farming, culture sèche) Méthode de culture pratiquée en région semi-aride, consistant à emmagasiner dans le sol la plus grande partie possible des pluies d'une année en travaillant la terre avant de l'ensemencer l'année suivante.

Méthode de culture des régions sèches, consistant à emmagasiner dans le sol l'eau tombée pendant deux années consécutives pour obtenir une bonne récolte, la pluie d'une seule année étant insuffisante. Le blé en dry-farming, dans les zones sèches des confins occidentaux de la grande prairie (...) devint la culture fondamentale (GEORGE 1970).
